I have often been asked, over the last 30 years, to explain what it is that I do for a living. Still, I am inevitably stumped, find myself looking at the floor, not knowing where to start. I think most of us are that way....afraid that your average Joe won’t be able to get his head around it, most of us answer it the same way....I make it sound good, or I hang all the pretty lights..... I load trucks......It’s easier that way. It’s all that, and SO much more though, as most of the folks who grabbed this cat by the tail will attest. For some us, this started as a lark, and turned into a lifelong love affair. Others knew all along this was where they were headed......and all will agree that there are no words that could ever adequately describe what this gig truly is........ Highs and lows like no other....train-wrecks and grand-slams...heartbreak
and uncertainty, unbelievable moments of triumph over the odds, and those incredible miracle moments that can make a grown man cry...... flashes of brilliance, and an uncommon brotherly bond that I have never witnessed anywhere else.

It’s not a job for the weak or the faint of heart, nor those who require their 8 hours of beauty sleep....beauty doesn’t count out here. It’s dirty and dangerous, and usually thankless....... many have been killed and hurt. These guys and gals are self starters, and don’t need a babysitter. They are crazy fearless, and insanely safety conscious, all rolled into one big crazy carnival tent blowing down the highway.

And that’s what makes this gig so special....all the people that have become
my friends........friends that I could never replace.....smart people....problem solvers and thinkers....talented hard workers and co-conspirators who have inspired me and kept me young.

Thanks for the ride....

Kill Hannah Band Van & Gear Stolen

On Wednesday November 11, 2009 the band Kill Hannah had their van and trailer stolen from the front of the Holiday Inn on 900 Packer Ave. in Philadelphia P.A.. It was taken between 4:00 A.M. & 11:00 A.M. (This was the same location that the rock trio Mae had their van stolen a week earlier.) They lost over $120,000.00 in gear and merchandise.

Here is a list of gear that we have so far that was stolen.

Veterans Day

This is a day set aside to thank those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces. Over the years it seems it has turned into an excuse for another sale at the local department store, or the Unions to get an extra day off. The day my oldest son left for the Air Force Academy, Veterans Day took on a whole new meaning. The day my youngest son left for Iraq the reality of their career choices really set in.
The day we buried my dear friends daughter the cost of it hit me, it could be "My" c… Continue

Monday, September 28th, 2009

We at FRIENDSOFGUNGI.com are sad to announce that Gordon "Gungi" Paterson passed away today after a 3 year battle with cancer.
